How Dine Brands Global revitalized its iconic Applebee’s and IHOP brands by enabling off-premises dining

Dine Brands, owner of Applebee’s and IHOP, faced declining relevance and a fragmented, slow online ordering experience (Applebee’s ordering spread across three sites and IHOP with no online ordering), which hurt revenue and customer satisfaction. To regain market share and deliver an omnichannel ordering experience, Dine Brands turned to Sitecore, upgrading to Sitecore Experience Platform (XP) and Sitecore Experience Database (xDB).

Sitecore, implemented with partner XCentium, consolidated sites onto a single, scalable Sitecore platform with embedded e-commerce integration, personalization, geolocation, multilingual menus, and headless analytics. The Sitecore solution delivered strong results: Applebee’s bounce rate fell 22%, sessions rose 31%, average session duration +41% and page views +67%; IHOP sessions +35%, page views +67% and bounce rates down 7%, alongside increased repeat customers and online sales.
