EPA Victoria needed to modernize its aging website, the primary channel for public communication, while also supporting a broader digital transformation and responding quickly during the 2020 bushfire crisis. The agency had to rebuild its digital presence, improve access to science-based tools like AirWatch, and provide timely guidance and real-time environmental information to thousands of citizens under new regulations, using Sitecore products including XM and XP.

Sitecore, implemented with Deloitte Digital, delivered a new responsive website, an insights-driven AirWatch solution, and key integrations to support scalability and real-time data delivery. The results were significant: the site handled traffic surges from 97 visits per minute to 5,000 during the bushfire emergency, provided critical information when it was needed most, and earned overwhelmingly positive feedback while becoming a trusted public resource.
