Connects, shares and engages more than 3000 former Defence members

The Defence Alumni Network (DAN) is an initiative to connect, share and engage more than 3,000 former Australian Defence members and provide a channel for re-recruitment. The Australian Defence Force had struggled to reach and engage ex-service personnel, so DAN worked with Visual Jazz to build a social community site using Sitecore (Sitecore CMS and Online Marketing Suite) to enable registration, profiles, groups, events, galleries and personalized member interactions.

Sitecore powered the personalized site experience, reused content for a mobile site and—with Visual Jazz extensions to caching and query layers—kept performance high while delivering individualized content. Since launching in July 2011 the site attracted nearly 3,000 members in the first month and, using Sitecore’s OMS features, engaged prospective recruits at roughly one-quarter the cost of traditional recruitment channels while enabling thousands of alumni and serving members to reconnect and interact.
