British Red Cross needed to modernize how it connects with the public — reacting to changing engagement patterns, creating more emotional and conversational content, fixing a disconnected “Stories” section with poor visitor journeys, and boosting donations, volunteers and brand relevance. The charity partnered with Sitecore, deploying Sitecore Experience Platform (XP 8.2), Sitecore Experience Manager (XM) and Sitecore Managed Cloud, with integrations including a partner-built wheelchair hire service.

Sitecore redesigned the Stories experience with reusable templates, automation and a flexible content model, making content creation easier and more impactful. The results: increased engagement, page visits, time on site and return visits; Stories attracted more traffic than the main site (10K visits in four months); some story CTAs achieved 20–54% CTR; and the new wheelchair hire integration helped protect the NHS during COVID-19.
