Bayer’s Sitecore-powered intranet delivers €600k yearly savings

Bayer needed a better way to support 90,000 employees across 80 countries with personalized internal communications, as its existing intranet relied on 300 portals and four CMS platforms. The complexity created static pages, difficult navigation, limited localization, and high operating costs, making it harder to deliver relevant content efficiently. Sitecore helped Bayer address this with a Sitecore-powered digital experience platform for its BayerNet intranet.

Sitecore unified Bayer’s fragmented intranet into a single platform, integrating with systems like SAP, ServiceNow, and Microsoft and establishing a global editorial process. The result was stronger personalization for 90,000 users, a 46% reduction in yearly costs from €1.3 million to €700,000, €600,000 in annual savings, and a 70% reduction in content. BayerNet also earned best-in-class recognition in six of nine intranet benchmark categories and scored 41.5 versus an average of 38.1.
