A Sitecore Case Study
Barfoot & Thompson, New Zealand’s largest privately owned real estate company, faced a legacy .ASP website that constrained marketing, required costly external maintenance, scattered backend data across multiple databases, and limited SEO and mobile capabilities. Seeking a scalable CMS to separate content from presentation and give control to their in-house team, Barfoot & Thompson selected Sitecore as their content management platform (implemented in partnership with Datacom).
Datacom implemented a Sitecore-based solution using XML/XSLT, MySQL integration, custom URL resolvers and aggressive caching to integrate legacy data and enable rapid content updates. The Sitecore deployment let a five-person content team take ownership, reduced update cycles from months to days, improved SEO, and grew unique monthly visitors from about 170,000 to 300,000, delivering measurable cost savings and a stronger platform for ongoing digital improvements.
