AOPA revitalizes digital presence, enables smarter marketing with Sitecore and Salesforce Marketing Cloud

AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), the world’s largest aviation community, faced an urgent digital-transformation challenge: an aging membership base and a need to attract younger pilots and drone professionals while moving away from print, direct mail and batch email. With 50 million member emails sent annually, roughly 10 million customer records and about a million monthly website visitors (most anonymous), AOPA needed better data consolidation, personalization and real-time engagement. They turned to Sitecore, using Sitecore Experience Platform (XP) and Sitecore Experience Database (xDB) hosted on Microsoft Azure and integrating with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

Sitecore standardized AOPA on a centralized CMS, deployed xDB to unify customer data, and used Sitecore Connect to feed campaigns into Salesforce Marketing Cloud, enabling automated, in-the-moment, personalized emails and streamlined content workflows. The Sitecore-led solution drove measurable impact: a 20% increase in web traffic, 15% growth in membership, 20% faster time to market, and roughly one hour saved per day in content management, while enabling targeted newsletters and more intelligent marketing campaigns.
