Sisense Dashboards Bring Metric Visibility & Motivation to Iowa's Premier Government Agency

Iowa Communications Network (ICN) is the state-owned broadband carrier in Iowa, operating over 8,660 miles of owned and leased fiber to serve K‑12, higher education, healthcare, government and public safety. When Executive Director Ric Lumbard took over, ICN had no central visual point for monitoring performance: critical data lived in many databases and spreadsheets across servers, making it hard to combine into a single “truth” or to quickly see operational health and key performance indicators.

ICN chose Sisense for its fast implementation and customizable visualizations (including custom speedometers) to unify scattered data and feed the BRIC operations center. The interactive dashboards now give bureau chiefs and staff at‑a‑glance visibility into network capacity, sector growth and financial margins, improve transparency for executives and commissioners, and are being rolled out broadly to motivate performance across the agency.
