Profit Tools, a logistics software provider serving the low‑margin shipping industry, needed better visibility into route- and department-level profitability. Although the platform connected 10+ data sources, standard reports couldn’t mash up or filter data for a complete 360° view, so customers and leadership pushed for a flexible analytics capability; Profit Tools hired Shane Hedlund to define requirements and lead the initiative.
After testing vendors, the team selected Sisense and built a proof-of-concept dashboard in one day, then rolled out a branded analytics module that ties Profit Tools data to customers’ own data. Internal adoption and the new product delivered major time savings, created an additional revenue stream, and produced a notable 80% increase in profitability for the Fuel Department, yielding a strong ROI.
