Mavis Discount Tire Keeps Servers Rolling with SIOS SANless Clusters

Mavis Discount Tire, a New York-based retailer with 150 stores across the northeastern US, needed high availability for its business-critical SQL Server applications and databases without sacrificing performance. The company wanted to avoid the cost, complexity, and potential overhead of traditional shared-storage clustering, so it turned to SIOS Technology and its SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition software.

SIOS Technology implemented SANless two-node clusters using Windows Server Failover Clustering with local storage and host-based replication, eliminating the need for a SAN and redundant switches. The result was high availability and disaster recovery protection for Mavis Discount Tire’s SQL environments with no performance slowdown, and the solution has been in use for more than four years while also removing a single point of failure from shared storage.
