Healthcare Information Services Provider Improves Performance, Cuts Bandwidth Requirements

Leading Healthcare Information Service Provider, which serves more than 10,000 healthcare organizations across the United States, needed a secure and reliable way to protect critical SQL Server data while reducing bandwidth strain across its geographically distributed disaster recovery environment. Its existing replication approach was flooding network bandwidth, affecting reliability and making it harder to meet recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) goals. SIOS Technology’s DataKeeper Cluster Edition was evaluated to address these high-availability and disaster recovery challenges.

SIOS Technology implemented SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition in a three-node Windows Server Failover Cluster spanning two primary SAN-based nodes and one SANless disaster recovery node. The solution synchronized replication across the cluster, eliminated the bandwidth issue at the DR site, improved both RPO and RTO, and reduced bandwidth costs. After successful proof-of-concept testing and production deployment, the company expanded use of SIOS DataKeeper to protect SQL Server workloads across more than 18 cluster nodes.
