Somfy reaches for productivity with Sinterit’s SLS technology

Somfy, a world leader in automated home and building solutions, sought to enhance its in-house rapid prototyping capabilities to boost productivity and design freedom. The company was transitioning from outsourcing and using other 3D printing technologies to seeking a more efficient solution, which led them to the vendor Sinterit.

Sinterit implemented its SLS technology, specifically the Lisa PRO and Lisa X 3D printers. This solution eliminated the need for support structures, allowed for printing many parts in a single batch, and provided high precision for complex components. The measurable results for Somfy were tremendous cost reductions, citing one part that became 50-100 times cheaper to produce with Sinterit's technology compared to traditional CNC machining, while also significantly improving productivity.
