National Archives of Australia - Customer Case Study

The National Archives of Australia faced the challenge of manually appraising and disposing of records, a costly and time-consuming process that lacked consistency. They required a robust system for the automated extraction of metadata and the auto-classification of records to recommend disposal actions. Sintelix, through its text and data analytics platform, was engaged to develop a solution for this enterprise information management problem.

The solution implemented by Sintelix was the Enterprise Information Manager (EIM) tool, which provided a user interface for designing classifiers and automated the record sentencing process. The results were a system capable of storing and sentencing large volumes of documents at high speed, delivering consistent results that are orders of magnitude faster than the previous manual approach. The project was completed within two months, providing the National Archives with a viable and effective solution.
