School District Showcases Enhanced Student Safety Capabilities

Walton Central School District in Walton, NY — serving about 1,200 students and 250 staff across three buildings — needed a faster, more reliable way to communicate during emergencies after replacing its PBX phone system. Facing threats like active shooters and severe weather, the district required mass-notification capabilities that would reach the right people immediately.

The district implemented Singlewire Software’s InformaCast integrated with a Cisco VoIP platform to automate alerts across phones, desktops, smart boards, digital signage, IP speakers and texts. Integrated 911 alerting, fire-alarm, lockdown and door-access controls deliver detailed, real-time notifications to first responders and staff, enabling coordinated responses with local police and fire departments and significantly enhancing student and staff safety.
