Redlands Unified School District - Customer Case Study

Redlands Unified School District (RUSD), serving about 21,400 students and 1,600 staff across multiple elementary, middle and high schools, needed a flexible, scalable overhead paging and bell scheduling system that could work over a one-wire Ethernet infrastructure and integrate with its existing Cisco phone network. The district also required the ability to communicate quickly across buildings for everyday coordination and emergency notifications (e.g., earthquakes), while keeping implementation and management simple for school and district staff.

RUSD implemented Singlewire’s InformaCast, integrated with Cisco phones and IP speakers, to provide text/audio paging, a customizable bell scheduler, and district-wide alerting. The system became an essential, reliable service—used for bells, paging, drills and emergency broadcasts—easy to update and troubleshoot, with strong vendor support; administrators report it is “rock solid,” adaptable to district needs, and has improved both daily operations and emergency preparedness.
