P&H Mining, a division of Joy Global, is a global manufacturer of large industrial mining equipment with multi-acre assembly plants. The company needed a faster, more reliable way to alert workers in very noisy, multi-building facilities about emergencies or severe weather and to notify security of the exact location when someone dialed 911, while also modernizing disparate legacy phone systems.

Joy Global deployed a Cisco unified communications platform with Singlewire InformaCast and CallAware, integrating IP phones, overhead speakers, legacy paging, SMS, email and desktops into a one‑click mass-notification system. The solution enabled zone-specific or campus-wide alerts, sent consistent audio and visual messages to workers, allowed guards to see the source of 911 calls, and was credited with improving response times and helping save a worker’s life during a medical emergency.
