InformaCast Enables Facility-Wide Emergency Alerts for NB Coatings

NB Coatings, a Chicago-based manufacturer of paints and coatings for plastic automotive parts, operates a multi-building campus with production facilities, a lab, offices and a warehouse. Their previous emergency alert process failed to reach everyone — additions to the campus left some offices beyond speaker range, noisy shop floors and off-shift employees lacked access to desk phones or email, and closed doors meant some staff missed evacuation announcements.

At the recommendation of a consultant, IT director Mark Dvorscak implemented InformaCast to consolidate paging and manage alerts from a central web portal. The system broadcasts simultaneously to overhead speakers, Cisco VoIP phones, email and corporate cell phones, and integrates with an IVR so any employee can trigger the correct alert. By using existing hardware, NB Coatings achieved facility-wide emergency notification, faster responses during all shifts, and cost savings — improving campus safety and communication.
