InformaCast Delivers Connected Campus Security Solution

Northcentral Technical College (NTC), a multi‑campus commuter college serving roughly 30,000 students across northern Wisconsin, needed a reliable way to notify everyone and lockdown buildings during emergencies. The security and IT teams faced the challenge of reaching staff and students quickly across dispersed sites while preventing people from entering dangerous situations and keeping intruders from locating occupants.

NTC implemented InformaCast integrated with Cisco phones, SchoolMessenger, Genetec door/camera systems and room displays to create a unified emergency system: panic buttons on desk phones, automated lockdowns that lock doors and turn off room displays, and mass text/phone/email alerts plus prerecorded audio over speakers. The integration avoided extra hardware costs, delivers timely, location‑accurate alerts to campuses and 911, limits trigger access to key personnel, and has measurably improved campus safety and response coordination.
