Alabama High School Develops Powerful Safety Solution with InformaCast

W.P. Davidson High School, part of Mobile County Public Schools in Alabama, needed a modern mass‑notification system after a 2017 shooting exposed siloed tools and a cumbersome, principal‑dependent alert process. The challenge was to unify disparate cameras, phones, intercoms, door locks, displays and sensors in an older 1960s building so the solution could serve as a replicable model for the district.

The district expanded its existing InformaCast deployment into a central “brain” that integrates Cisco phones, IP speakers, digital signage, Extron touch panels, door controls, Igor lighting, gunshot detection and more, enabling single‑button alerts and automated responses. The result: faster, more accurate emergency notification, reduced burden on staff, lower cost by leveraging existing infrastructure, and a pilot system ready to scale across the district.
