A SingleStore Case Study
Tapjoy, a leader in advertising and app monetization with a global engineering team, needed a database that could handle billions of data points per day without the performance limits of MySQL. As its financial and marketing workloads grew, Tapjoy required an ACID-compliant, scalable, MySQL-compatible replacement that could support at least 10x growth while avoiding the complexity of sharding.
Tapjoy implemented SingleStore as a drop-in replacement for MySQL for its key workload, first validating it with shadow writes and heavy load testing. With SingleStore, Tapjoy saw major performance gains: a single financial data query dropped from 68 seconds to 1.23 seconds, monthly reporting improved from 28 minutes to 1.1 seconds, and an active-customer lookup improved from 24 seconds to 3 seconds under 20x stress loads.
