Heylink, a content monetization platform launched in 2018, needed a faster and more scalable database to support real-time reporting for publishers and advertisers. Its original MySQL and Elasticsearch setup struggled with performance, rising traffic, and operational complexity, especially during Black Friday peaks. Heylink turned to SingleStore, using its HTAP database platform to better handle ad hoc queries, large data volumes, and rapid user growth.
SingleStore first ran as a proof of concept and then moved into production as SingleStore Helios, the fully managed database-as-a-service offering. The results were significant: average query response time dropped from 4 seconds to under 300 milliseconds, some queries ran 200x faster, and Heylink reduced costs by 30% by consolidating MySQL and Elasticsearch into one platform. Migration was quick as well, with a cluster running within an hour and full production migration completed in two business days.
