The existing Hadoop-based architecture, built from 10 separate data processing components, could not keep up with the expected 100,000-row-per-second ingest rate, required aggregations, or growing reporting demands.

SingleStore replaced the fragmented stack with a single cluster fed by Kafka, enabling fast streaming ingest, continuous aggregations, alarm bucketing, and interactive SQL access through standard BI tools. The new setup met the utility’s performance and scalability needs, reduced operational complexity and cost, and scaled from 140 million historical rows to billions and even trillions as future data volumes grow.
