Sinequa Enterprise Search solution has been selected by the direction of the Competition of the European Commission to improve access to data and increase performance in the processing of cases. The work of DG Competition is very varied. It has to decide on notifications for mergers and acquisitions within the short time-frame imposed by the applicable legislation (of course, enterprises are in a hurry to pursue their merger and acquisition projects). It verifies suspected abuse of a dominant market position, illicit cartels, etc. It does so as fast as possible in order to mitigate effects on consumers and affected competitors. Each case may concern a different industry, often with a complex legal situation, and just as often with case files containing thousands of documents to be dealt with. Therefore, in order to rapidly take on and become familiar with a case, discover all relevant information while respecting access rights of documents, and to "keep track" of important information of each case, the Directorate-General has chosen the Search and Unified Information Access platform of Sinequa. After a Proof of Concept that provided the opportunity to evaluate several leading search technologies, French software company Sinequa got the buy-in and support of the users and the project team.
