A Sinefa Case Study

Local Victorian Council Gains Real-time Network Traffic Insights Across 12 Locations

Maroondah City Council, which supports 560 employees across 12 locations in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, was struggling with inconsistent application performance, zero visibility into devices and traffic, and rising staff complaints. The council turned to Sinefa for real‑time network traffic insights (layer 7 visibility and traffic shaping) after trials showed other solutions were too complex or network‑hungry.

Sinefa deployed probes (one at each of eight sites) following a 14‑day trial, giving the IT team instant, drill‑down visibility, weekly trend reports, application classification and traffic‑shaping controls. As a result Sinefa reduced diagnosis time for network issues by at least 50%, revealed public Wi‑Fi was consuming up to 70% of bandwidth at peak times, enabled throttling of iOS updates and prioritisation of critical traffic, and improved capacity planning and executive reporting.
