A Sinefa Case Study
Strong Solutions, a Sydney-based cloud and infrastructure MSP, was losing ground on its promise of great user experience when a key 15-site client suffered frequent network dropouts that impacted core apps like ERP and Office 365. Traditional network tools were slow and lacked application-level insight, causing recurring tickets and finger-pointing. At the suggestion of Telstra, Strong Solutions trialed Sinefa’s solution (a probe providing application-level visibility and traffic control) to diagnose and resolve the issues.
Using Sinefa, Strong Solutions deployed a probe at the head office and within 10 minutes identified uncontrolled device updates as the cause, tagged all “software update” traffic and applied a single shaping policy. The result: network-quality calls from the head office dropped from 2–3 per week to zero, the probe was rolled out across the 15-site WAN in under two weeks, and centralized real-time shaping eliminated recurring incidents and restored user experience. Sinefa also clarified that the Telstra Next IP network itself was not at fault, improving relationships between the client, Strong Solutions and Telstra.
