CubaMessenger, a Canada-based social messaging app serving people trying to stay connected with loved ones in Cuba, needed a way to offer affordable voice communication despite limited internet access and high calling costs. To meet this challenge, the company turned to Sinch and its In-App Voice Calling service.
Working with Sinch, CubaMessenger added in-app voice calling to its existing SMS app, creating a pay-as-you-go, no-subscription communication service that works without internet in Cuba. The result was a major expansion of its user base, with 3 million people using the app and around 9,000 minutes of calls handled daily, while Sinch also helped reduce integration challenges and improve support.
