Case Study: RTE optimizes offshore cable route planning with Sinay's metocean studies

A Sinay Case Study

RTE - Customer Case Study

The French electricity transmission system operator, RTE, faced challenges in planning marine cable installations due to the growth of offshore wind farms. They required numerous metocean studies along cable routes to design installations effectively and chose to set up a framework contract to manage these needs. Vendor Sinay, in collaboration with ACRI-HE, was awarded this contract to provide these essential studies.

Sinay, working with partners Egis and ACRI-HE, provided RTE with comprehensive analyses of ocean currents and waves for specific wind farm projects. The solution involved tailored modeling and statistical analysis of existing metocean data to compute extreme wave values, storm surges, and bottom current estimates. This enabled RTE to make informed decisions on the most relevant cable routes and installation methods, ensuring the infrastructure was planned effectively against oceanic constraints.
