Case Study: Shout It Now improves HIV testing capacity with SIMUL8

A SIMUL8 Case Study

Closing the HIV testing gap in South Africa with simulation

Shout-It-Now, a South African not-for-profit organization, faced the challenge of creating a highly efficient and cost-effective mobile HIV testing service to address the country's epidemic. Their goal was to overcome complex logistical barriers and cultural stigma to test large numbers of people. They turned to the vendor SIMUL8, using its simulation software to model their processes and identify critical bottlenecks that were hindering their operations.

Using SIMUL8, Shout-It-Now simulated their entire testing process, which allowed them to pinpoint and eliminate inefficiencies, such as a lack of registration desks and computers for pre-counseling. The solution provided by SIMUL8 enabled them to fine-tune their operations, leading to a robust system that could treat 150-200 patients per day. The measurable impact was significant: over 390,000 people have taken an HIV test through their program, and they are now designing a new process with SIMUL8 to more than double their capacity without needing extra resources.
