SYSTAG reduces heat flux variation in a lab reactor system by 60% with SimScale

SYSTAG (System Technik AG), a Swiss automation specialist for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, needed to improve the internal temperature uniformity of its FlexyCUBE lab reactor without time‑consuming invasive measurements. To investigate temperature and heat‑flux distributions and identify choke points, SYSTAG turned to SimScale’s cloud‑based CAE platform and heat‑transfer simulation capabilities.

Using SimScale, SYSTAG imported CAD, ran steady‑state thermo‑structural heat transfer simulations (over 50 runs) and iteratively tested design changes with support from SimScale engineers. The result was a >60% reduction in heat‑flux variation, roughly 28 weeks of prototype delivery/manufacturing time saved and about 10,000 CHF in cost savings, with the final design manufactured and experimentally verified.
