Case Study: Spark achieves 75% time savings in thermal validation with SimScale

A SimScale Case Study

Spark used SimScale to assess the performance of their MIRA camera

Spark, an Italian video-surveillance company, needed to assess temperature distribution in different proposals for its MIRA dome IP camera to determine which design met required operating conditions and avoid thermal issues. To do this, Spark used SimScale’s cloud-based FEA transient heat transfer simulations to evaluate heat sinks and image sensor board temperatures across design variants.

Using SimScale, Spark ran four transient heat-transfer analyses (meshed with SimScale’s tet-dominant algorithm to ~1.2M nodes, 1500s gap time, 32 cores, ~130 minutes per run) across two designs and two setups. The simulations revealed non‑obvious thermal bottlenecks, validated heat‑sink configurations, sped prototyping decisions, and eliminated the need for many physical tests—saving Spark 75% of the time compared with traditional testing.
