SOTAX, a leader in automated dissolution testing systems for pharmaceutical and related industries, needed to reduce testing and design cycles while ensuring its “At Xtend” waterbath kept vessel temperatures constant under realistic operating conditions. The company wanted to replicate real-life flow behavior, including swirls and vortices, before making design changes, and needed an affordable online simulation platform with strong support.
Using **SimScale**, SOTAX ran incompressible flow and heat transfer simulations, along with passive scalars, to compare design options and verify inlet/outlet performance. SimScale’s mesh preview, tutorials, and live chat support helped the team get accurate results quickly; the steady-state simulation ran on 8 cores in about 18 minutes and used 2.4 core hours. The simulations confirmed the vessel temperature distribution and showed the design could keep vessels optimally warm, while also helping SOTAX shorten its development process.
