Rimac Automobili Designs the Next Generation of Electric Hypercars with Cloud-Native Simulation

Rimac Automobili, the electric hypercar manufacturer, needed a better way to tackle one of the toughest EV engineering problems: thermal management of battery packs. To ensure performance and battery life without overheating, Rimac turned to SimScale’s cloud-native simulation platform, specifically its Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) module, to evaluate different cooling concepts and operating conditions early in development.

Using SimScale, Rimac ran steady-state thermal simulations of a liquid-cooled battery pack and explored key variables such as coolant inlet velocity and material thermal conductivity. The result was 30 simulations completed in parallel in just 13 hours, compared with roughly 300 hours serially, delivering 96% time savings while helping Rimac quickly assess temperature distribution, thermal gradients, and design changes that improve EV battery performance.
