Quantex used SimScale to test and optimize the design of its disposable pumps

Quantex, a leader in single‑use disposable pump technology, needed to scale and rework its pump design for a larger Series 20 model and new markets (e.g., food dispensing). The critical challenge was thin, deflective polypropylene membranes with tight manufacturing tolerances; Quantex’s CAD tools lacked affordable nonlinear FEA, so they turned to SimScale to validate and optimize the design cost‑effectively.

Using SimScale’s cloud‑based nonlinear structural FEA, Quantex simulated membrane deflection with realistic, non‑uniform pressure loads and material properties, allowing rapid iteration and mesh tuning. The SimScale workflow produced concrete results: a 50% increase in allowable manufacturing tolerance, two design iterations saved, and about $40k average savings on tooling costs, while avoiding expensive mold changes and enabling further performance improvements.
