Case Study: Nabtaker achieves rapid thermal comfort validation for Qatar University auditorium with SimScale

A SimScale Case Study

Preview of the Nabtaker Case Study

Nabtaker is using CFD with SimScale to verify thermal comfort in Qatar University's auditorium

Nabtaker, an engineering solutions company in Qatar specializing in CFD for construction and oil & gas, was hired by Qatar University to diagnose excessive heat and poor thermal comfort in a 239‑seat auditorium. Using the SimScale cloud CFD platform, Nabtaker aimed to measure temperature, velocity and comfort metrics (EDT, PMV, PPD) and determine how many occupants would be uncomfortable without modifying the existing HVAC system.

Using SimScale, Nabtaker ran parallel simulations of the original and a proposed layout with hex‑dominant meshes (~18 million elements) and post‑processed results in ParaView to refine inlet/outlet positions. Running on 96 cores in the cloud cut each analysis to under 9 hours, enabled multiple design iterations in parallel, produced actionable recommendations for HVAC inlet/return placement, and reduced project time and hardware costs while meeting ASHRAE comfort criteria.
