Case Study: Fluence Analytics achieves ARGEN weight and rigidity optimization and $40K hardware savings with SimScale

A SimScale Case Study

Preview of the Fluence Analytics Case Study

Fluence Analytics virtually tested 25 different design configurations within minutes.

Fluence Analytics, maker of the ARGEN benchtop system for assessing pharmaceutical and polymer stability, faced the challenge of balancing weight and rigidity for a device that contains 16 optical assemblies. To avoid expensive physical prototypes they adopted SimScale’s cloud-based CAE/FEA platform (solid mechanics, static analysis) to virtually test framing configurations, materials and contact definitions and quickly evaluate deformation behavior.

Using SimScale, the team ran 25 simulations on 4‑core machines with an average run time of about 10 minutes, producing the deformation data that drove two key design changes: switching from thick-gauge aluminum to thinner stainless steel for similar weight but greater stiffness, and adding a central channel to boost stiffness with minimal weight gain. The SimScale-powered approach delivered rapid parallel experimentation, roughly $40K saved in hardware costs, and a cost‑effective workflow that informs future weight, airflow, and thermal optimizations.
