Fessmann validates their HVAC design with amazing accuracy using SimScale

Fessmann GmbH & Co. KG, a leading manufacturer of food thermal-processing plants, wanted to incorporate CAE into its design process for a new plant series and validate complex HVAC airflow behavior that had previously been handled empirically. To do this, Fessmann turned to SimScale’s cloud-based CFD platform for the first time, aiming to replace physical trial-and-error with virtual evaluation.

Using SimScale, Fessmann simulated incompressible, steady-state, turbulent airflow across individual components and system combinations, running about 300 simulations in total and using up to 96 cores per run. The simulations helped the team make design changes earlier, reduce iteration loops and physical prototypes, and verify the final prototype successfully, leading to shorter development time and more accurate HVAC design validation.
