Case Study: EJ Consulting achieves rapid valve resizing with SimScale CFD simulation

A SimScale Case Study

Preview of the EJ Consulting Case Study

EJ Consulting increased the size of its valve in only a few hours with CFD simulation on SimScale

EJ Consulting, a HUBZone certified engineering firm in Huntsville, AL, needed to change the size of an existing valve but could not feasibly run physical tests (pumping 200–1000 GPM) to measure pressure drop, flows, and forces. To generate the technical data required for marketing and engineering selection, EJ Consulting used CFD simulation on the cloud-based SimScale platform to evaluate multiple valve geometries and positions.

Using SimScale, EJ Consulting uploaded the geometry, created meshes for 7 valve sizes at 5 positions (35 meshes), and ran roughly 105 simulation runs across different velocities, alternating between hex-dominant and tetrahedral meshing to balance accuracy and cost. The cloud runs (five concurrent jobs, ~1–2 hours each depending on mesh) let the team size the valve in only a few hours, avoid costly physical tests, and gain clear insight into valve–fluid interactions—delivering the engineering data needed for product improvement and marketing. SimScale enabled the scalable, fast CFD workflow that produced these measurable results.
