Brainbox Matrix Services Ltd. Validated Their WIG Craft Design With SimScale

Brainbox Matrix Services Ltd., a Nigerian engineering firm focused on marine and naval architectural services, turned to SimScale to analyze a wing-in-ground-effect (WIG) marine craft design. Having never used an online simulation platform before, the team needed a way to study external aerodynamic and multiphase hydrodynamic behavior more efficiently, with better cost and time savings than traditional methods.

Using SimScale’s cloud-based CFD simulation environment, Brainbox Matrix Services ran compressible and incompressible flow analyses across 28 simulations, with single-phase runs taking about 45 minutes to 1 hour and multiphase cases up to 24 hours. SimScale helped resolve early non-convergence issues, and the results validated the design, reduced development time and prototype needs, and supported a project that was ultimately rated the best MTech project.
