Case Study: BellaSeno achieves 90% fewer prototypes and optimized implant fluid flow with SimScale

A SimScale Case Study

Preview of the BellaSeno Case Study

BellaSeno used SimScale to maximize fluid flow through its high-end 3D printed implants Senella

BellaSeno is a preclinical-stage medical device startup developing Senella®, a highly porous absorbable breast implant that relies on efficient vascularization. To maximize fluid flow and surface contact within complex pore architectures without cost-prohibitive prototyping, BellaSeno partnered with SimScale and used SimScale’s cloud-based CFD/CAE platform to evaluate dozens of design candidates early in the design process.

Using SimScale’s cloud CFD, BellaSeno ran hex-dominant ~38M-cell meshes on 96-core instances in parallel, visualized results with ParaView and Matlab, and selected designs based on permeability and fluid-domain metrics. The SimScale workflow cut physical prototypes by 90%, saved about $10K on hardware per case, delivered a 66% ROI, saved hundreds of man-hours, and accelerated development — BellaSeno continues to rely on SimScale for further CFD and FEA optimization.
