WestEd connects its distributed workforce with Simpplr

WestEd, a nonprofit research and service agency with about 1,000 employees across 16 U.S. offices (more than 30% working from home) and 450–700 active projects, struggled with an outdated, homegrown intranet that made it hard for staff to find information and collaborate. After evaluating multiple vendors, WestEd selected Simpplr as a modern, easy-to-implement intranet solution with strong integrations (Salesforce, Box, Slack) and a user-friendly experience.

Using Simpplr to build "Inside WestEd," a small internal team reorganized content around end users, connected third-party apps, and fostered affinity groups; more than 90% of employees now log in weekly. The Simpplr implementation reduced email volume by retiring distribution lists, decreased IT and HR helpdesk tickets as employees self-serve information, centralized project collaboration, and is maintained by a virtual team of three part-time staff—delivering clear improvements in efficiency and engagement.
