The customer, Community Housing Cymru (CHC), a representative body for housing associations in Wales, faced a strategic need to move away from business-as-usual and create a culture of innovation. They struggled with a lack of focus, difficulty in sharing ideas among members, and the need for a coordinated approach to solve systemic housing sector challenges. To address this, they partnered with vendor Simply Do to utilize their innovation platform and programme.
Simply Do implemented a challenge-led innovation programme using their platform to engage CHC's members, tenants, and the wider industry. This solution dramatically increased the submission of innovative ideas and led to a 50% increase in engagement, with 256 registered innovators. The platform automated the tracking of scalable solutions, reducing the time, cost, and risk of innovation. The success of the first phase led to a second phase, the Home Manifesto, which identified three key sector challenges to solve.
