Funding Mobile Sites and Other Projects with Advertising Revenue

Discover Albany, the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau, wanted to improve its visitor mobile experience and find a new way to generate revenue for reinvestment. To do this, the DMO turned to Simpleview’s Destination Travel Network (DTN) advertising platform to help monetize its website while also increasing exposure for its partners.

Simpleview worked with Discover Albany to implement tasteful, strategically placed ads that preserved the site’s quality and elegance. The effort paid off with enough advertising revenue to fully fund a mobile site, plus strong partner engagement. From June 2013 to June 2014, Albany.org generated over 2,800,000 advertising impressions, more than 30,000 clicks, and a 1.1% CTR—far above the 0.1% national average for online banner advertising.
