New Student Programs at North Carolina State University needed a fast, reliable way to reach first-year students and families when orientation went virtual in 2020. Facing the loss of in-person interactions, the office turned to SimpleTexting’s SMS platform and a dedicated office text line to provide immediate, on-the-spot communication during Zoom-based orientation sessions.
Using SimpleTexting, the team set up 18 staff accounts with the teammates feature, promoted a keyword sign-up via slides, student leaders, and the website, and staffed a weekday help line. The result: over 700 students and family members subscribed and the team answered 6,672 student questions during orientation, then kept the channel running into the fall for reminders and resources—demonstrating faster issue resolution and sustained engagement via SimpleTexting.
