How Maharishi International University Uses SMS to Increase Enrollment

Maharishi International University (MIU) is a nonprofit accredited university that had to shift its recruitment and admissions efforts online during the pandemic. With in-person events replaced by Zoom webinars, MIU needed a better way to remind prospective students and improve attendance, especially for an audience juggling jobs, families, and other responsibilities.

Using SimpleTexting’s SMS platform, MIU sent two text messages for each webinar—one confirming registration and another reminder 24 hours before the event—and later expanded texting to support two-way communication during arrival week. The results were strong: webinar attendance increased by 10%, rising from about 30% to 40% of registrants, which helped contribute to higher enrollment numbers.
