Case Study: MN (Dutch pension administrator) achieves streamlined private equity & real estate administration and automated valuation & reporting with SimCorp (SimCorp Dimension)

A SimCorp Case Study

Preview of the MN Case Study

Moving Alternative Investments Out of Excel

MN, a Dutch pension administrator and asset manager with EUR 135 billion AUM, faced an Excel‑based, fragmented administration for its private equity and real estate investments and needed a more reliable, service‑oriented system to produce structured data, calculations and reports at both fund and underlying (building/company) levels. Already a client, MN evaluated and selected SimCorp’s solutions, notably SimCorp Dimension’s Alternative Investments module and Portfolio Workbench, to replace spreadsheets and centralize administration.

SimCorp implemented a proof‑of‑concept covering six funds (three PE, three RE) and then deployed SimCorp Dimension and Portfolio Workbench to provide detailed transaction coding, separate fee registration, automated valuation updates (including mid‑quarter and backdated changes), and single‑database reporting with key ratios like IRR and TVPI. The SimCorp solution eliminated spreadsheet merging, sped reconciliations and reporting, delivered consolidated portfolio views and more granular exposure analysis for MN and its clients, and improved data quality, accessibility and operational efficiency.
