A Silk Case Study
Sentara Healthcare, a not-for-profit healthcare organization serving Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, needed to move its complex Epic EHR workloads to Microsoft Azure while maintaining strong performance and staying within budget. Although it was already using Azure NetApp Files, the organization found that native cloud performance was not enough for its most demanding workloads and was concerned about rising cloud costs.
Silk provided its platform to enable a lift-and-shift migration of Sentara’s EHR workloads without refactoring. With Silk, Sentara achieved 3x faster performance, reduced cloud costs by up to 20% through 2:1 data compression, and enabled disaster recovery for production workloads. Silk also gave Sentara fast, low-cost zero-footprint clones and the ability to move data more easily between production and DR environments.
