Case Study: River Region United Way coordinates volunteers to deliver 1,151 meals with SignUpGenius

United Way Volunteers Take Action to Feed the Hungry

River Region United Way faced a serious challenge when the local Meals on Wheels program stalled and 366 seniors in the River Region of Montgomery, AL were at risk of going without healthy meals. With the United Way Day of Action taking shape, the organization needed a fast, reliable way to organize a large volunteer effort, and turned to SignUpGenius to help manage the event.

Using SignUpGenius email blasts and social media tools, River Region United Way coordinated 166 volunteers from 20 corporate partners and kept them organized and informed throughout the project. Over 4 days, the volunteers contributed 800 total hours, an estimated $18,700 in salary time, and packaged 1,151 meals for seniors. SignUpGenius helped make the campaign a success and also led to more volunteer driver resources for MACOA’s ongoing Meals on Wheels program.
