GEM showcases 30,000+ fixtures with Signify

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located near the Pyramids of Giza, required a flexible and scalable connected lighting control system to showcase Egypt's ancient artefacts in the best possible light. The challenge included dynamically adapting lighting for multi-use spaces and implementing strict climate and light level controls to preserve the integrity of the exhibits. Signify provided a solution using its Dynalite lighting control system.

Signify implemented a system of over 10,000 Dynalite devices to monitor and control more than 30,000 lighting fixtures. This solution allowed for digitally reconfigurable lighting groups, enabling spaces to be repurposed without rewiring, and created bespoke lighting scenes to protect artefacts. The project is a central part of Egypt's plan to revitalize its tourism economy and is expected to welcome over five million visitors annually.
