City of Bialowieza cuts energy use by 77% with Signify

The City of Bialowieza, a municipality containing a UNESCO World Heritage forest, faced the challenge of balancing technological development with environmental preservation. Their objectives were to reduce light pollution for wildlife, improve safety for residents and tourists, and achieve long-term energy savings. They partnered with vendor Signify for an upgrade to connected LED lighting managed by Interact City software.

Signify implemented a solution where the city upgraded its street lighting to connected LED luminaires controlled by its Interact City Scene management software. This allowed for remote control, scheduling, and centralized management of the entire lighting network. As a result of this solution from Signify, the City of Bialowieza reduced its energy consumption by 77%, saving €34,000 annually and cutting CO2 emissions by 280 metric tons.
