Svea Ekonomi, an independent financial group in Finland, needed a new online customer authentication solution after the Finnish TUPAS protocol was set to be replaced in September 2019. The company had been managing authentication in-house through separate agreements and technical integrations with 10 Finnish banks, making the process costly, time-consuming, and technically complex. Svea Ekonomi worked with Signicat, using its eID Hub and Electronic Signing API.

Signicat implemented a bespoke hybrid authentication solution that supported both legacy TUPAS authentication and strong authentication via the Finnish Trust Network. The result was a simpler, more cost-effective service with close to 100% up-time, used across consumer applications such as My Pages and for signing credit agreements. Svea Ekonomi said Signicat exceeded expectations, especially in service reliability and communication between teams.
